NYC-Based Flight Attendant
Beverly Vanessa Hill Sings to Serve

August 10, 2011

Many know Beverly Vanessa Hill as a friendly and energetic NYC-based Delta flight attendant with a penchant for shuttle flying but that is only a part of her story. She is also an accomplished operatic dramatic soprano, motivational singer and philanthropist.

Singing has been one of Beverly Vanessa’s passions for as long as she can remember, and she has studied with some of the opera world’s finest teachers and artists. With the loving support of her parents, she was able to perform in numerous countries across the globe before she began her graduate studies. However, it was a conversation she had with a flight attendant on a Pan Am fight returning home form a performance in Italy that she discovered her other passion. “She took that moment to talk to me and that was a life-changer -I knew that is what I wanted to do,” Beverly Vanessa says. She later joined Delta as a flight attendant and has since combined her two passions with a desire to bless the lives of others.

Beverly Vanessa’s drive to serve others through song has led her to her next project. Her new CD, A Song in the Air – a collection of classical Arias conducted by Maestro Anton Guadagno in a live-recording with the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra – has recently been made available and Beverley Vanessa has committed to donating part of the proceeds from its sales to the Delta Care Fund. “You don’t have to wait until you have a lot to give. You give what you can,” she says.

In addition to recording and performing on her own, Beverley Vanessa loves to merge her passion for music with her love for Delta Air Lines. She has performed at a number of flight attendant class graduations and was asked to sing the National Anthem for the Delta 1996
Summer Olympics Celebration in Atlanta. Outside of music, Beverley Vanessa is also a past
recipient of the prestigious Delta Star Award in recognition for her volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity.

Currently, Beverley Vanessa can be seen performing with the Grover Lula Mae Hill Choraliers in New York City, of which she is the founder. She will also be singing the role of Bess in the upcoming world tour of Porgy and Bess, presented by Catfish Row Productions – a subsidiary of the American National Opera Company – which will include performances in China, Russia, Europe and the U.S.

MÖDLING / Mozart, Verdi, Rimski-Korsakov, Beethoven, Wagner and Puccini: Beverley Vanessa Hill (Soprano) from New York & Johannes Rödhammer-Roedemer (Bass) from Vienna planned the first part of their festive concert, in the Stadtgalerie, splendidly and in a classical vein.

The second half was as wonderful as the first. Both artists were able to hone their magnificent operatic voices to the needs of the Lieder and the concert hall expressing an admirable versatility.

The Christmas carols of Peter Cornelius, spirituals and some final traditional Christmas carols rounded out the successful evening.

Conrad Artmüller of the Vienna Staatsoper and conductor of the Mödling Symphony Orchestra was at the piano.
